It is located {{convert|10|km|mi|0|abbr=on}} south of [Bendigo](/source/Bendigo%2C_Victoria) and is reputed by the [government mapping agency](/source/Geoscience_Australia), to be the [geographic centre](/source/centroid) of [Victoria](/source/Victoria_(Australia)) at 36° 51' 15"[S](/source/South), 144° 16' 52" [E](/source/East). Parts of the [Greater Bendigo National Park](/source/Greater_Bendigo_National_Park) are located in Mandurang.

==History==
It grew and developed as a goldfield settlement and logging locality, though today mostly consists of small farms and wineries. The name is a corruption of the [Djadjawurrung](/source/Djadjawurrung_language) word "Munndorong" meaning large black cicada.<ref>{{Cite web|url=http://www.victorianplaces.com.au/mandurang|title = Mandurang &#124; Victorian Places}}</ref>

Mandurang Primary School was opened in 1877 and closed in 1994.
