== Biography ==
Mallick Brothers are from 13th generation of [Darbhanga Gharana](/source/Darbhanga_gharana).<ref name=":0" /> They are presently considered one of the powerful exponents of [Dhrupad](/source/Dhrupad) tradition, both nationally and internationally.<ref name=":0" />

They both have been trained under their father Pandit Prem Kumar Mallick, and grandfather Late Pandit Vidur Mallick.<ref name=":0">{{Cite web |title=Dhrupad Music : Mallick Brothers:: Biography |url=http://dhrupadmusic.org/biography.html |access-date=2025-08-07 |website=dhrupadmusic.org}}</ref> They belong to Mallick family of musicians, where the legends like [Padma Shri](/source/Padma_Shri) [Pandit Ram Chatur Mallick](/source/Ram_Chatur_Mallick) have created the aura of Gauharbani and Khandarbani style.

Apart from performances India and abroad, they also sang a song 'Amrita Narmada' in [Raag Basant](/source/Basant_(raga)) in hindi movie ''[Who Am I](/source/Who_Am_I_(2023_film))'' (2023).<ref>{{Citation |title=Amrita Narmada - Raga Basant Song{{!}}Mallick Brothers{{!}}Amrita Narmada - Raga Basant (From "Who am I"){{!}} Listen to new songs and mp3 song download Amrita Narmada - Raga Basantonline on Gaana.com |url=https://gaana.com/song/amrita-narmada-raga-basant-1 |access-date=2025-08-07 |language=en}}</ref>

== Singing style ==
The duo are known for their soulful voice with depth, and elaboration of four stages of [Alaap](/source/Alap) and rhythmic improvisation (Layakari) in different meters (Laya) of music.<ref name=":0" /> They sing traditionally, accompanied by a [pakhawaj](/source/Pakhavaj) player. One of the prime characteristics in their singing is the smooth glide from one note to another, also called [meend](/source/meend) and soot.<ref name=":0" /> Both of them have introduced a new repertoire of bandishes in [Darbhanga Gharana](/source/Darbhanga_gharana), by singing poetic renditions of ancient poets like [Kabir Das](/source/Kabir) to modern poets like Ashok Jamnani.<ref>{{Cite book |last=Mallick |first=Prem Kumar |title=Darbhanga Gharana Evam Bandishen |publisher=[Kashyap Publication](/source/Kashyap_Publication) |year=2016 |isbn=9789382422457 |edition=1st |location=Ghaziabad |pages=107–108 |language=hi}}</ref>
