## Club career

Domestically, she played for [Malmö FF](/source/FC_Roseng%C3%A5rd) in the [Damallsvenskan](/source/Damallsvenskan), and won the [Diamantbollen](/source/Diamantbollen) as Sweden's top female footballer in 1995.[2][3]

## International career

In an international career lasting from 1994 to 2005, Andersson appeared in 151 [international matches](/source/Cap_(sport)) for [Sweden](/source/Sweden_women's_national_football_team). At the time of her retirement, [Kristin Bengtsson](/source/Kristin_Bengtsson) was the only other player in Swedish football history to have amassed 150 caps. She competed in the [1995](/source/1995_FIFA_Women's_World_Cup), [1999](/source/1999_FIFA_Women's_World_Cup), and [2003 Women's World Cups](/source/2003_FIFA_Women's_World_Cup), netting three goals for Sweden overall. She also competed for Sweden in the [1996](/source/Football_at_the_1996_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Women's_tournament), [2000](/source/Sweden_at_the_2000_Summer_Olympics#Women's_team_competition) and [2004](/source/Sweden_at_the_2004_Summer_Olympics#Women's_team_competition) Olympics.

Malin Andersson competed in three [FIFA Women's World Cups](/source/FIFA_Women's_World_Cup): [Sweden 1995](/source/1995_FIFA_Women's_World_Cup), [USA 1999](/source/1999_FIFA_Women's_World_Cup), [USA 2003](/source/2003_FIFA_Women's_World_Cup). She appeared in all but two of her team's matches across those tournaments, and played every minute for Sweden at the 1995 and 1999 World Cups and at the 2000 Olympics. In the 1995 World Cup, she scored both the first and the final goals for Sweden as they came back from an 0–2 deficit vs [Germany](/source/Germany_women's_national_football_team) to win 3–2 on the second day of match play. Her 53' goal against [Brazil](/source/Brazil_women's_national_football_team) in the Quarter-Finals of the 2003 World Cup proved to be the winning goal in that match, a crucial victory in Sweden's march to a second-place finish.[4]
