**Mali Rhys Harries** (born 6 July 1976) is a Welsh television actress and [presenter](/source/Television_presenter) who has been in the television industry since 1989.[1] She has appeared in several well-established TV series in Welsh and English, including *[Hinterland](/source/Hinterland_(TV_series))*, *[The Indian Doctor](/source/The_Indian_Doctor)* and *[Pobol y Cwm](/source/Pobol_y_Cwm)*.

## Career

Born in [Cardiff](/source/Cardiff), Harries attended [Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf](/source/Ysgol_Gyfun_Gymraeg_Glantaf) and graduated from the [Bristol Old Vic Theatre School](/source/Bristol_Old_Vic_Theatre_School).[2]

She is married to actor [Matthew Gravelle](/source/Matthew_Gravelle).[1] She appeared alongside Gravelle in *[Baker Boys](/source/Baker_Boys_(2011_TV_series))*; each is married to another character in the series. They appear as husband and wife in the S4C drama *Un Bore Mercher* in 2017, which aired on BBC One in 2018 in an English-language version as *[Keeping Faith](/source/Keeping_Faith_(TV_series))*.[3]

In 2010, she was nominated for a [BAFTA Cymru](/source/BAFTA_Cymru) award for Best Actress in the [Welsh language](/source/Welsh_language) TV drama, *[Caerdydd](/source/Caerdydd_(TV_series))*.[1]

Between 2013 and 2016, Harries won critical acclaim as a star in the detective series *[Y Gwyll](/source/Y_Gwyll)* (titled *Hinterland* in English), the first bilingual Welsh-English series to air on the BBC.[4][5]

In 2014, Harries was voted into the top 10 of the [Wales Online](/source/Wales_Online) "Sexiest Woman in Wales" poll.[6]

Recently Harries has become known for her work with [S4C](/source/S4C), including the first series of *[Keeping Faith](/source/Keeping_Faith_(TV_series))*, her own crime documentary series *Y Ditectif*[7] and long-running soap *[Pobol y Cwm](/source/Pobol_y_Cwm)*.

## Personal life

Mali Harries is married to fellow Welsh performer [Matthew Gravelle](/source/Matthew_Gravelle). The couple have played each other's on-screen significant other in several TV shows.[8]
