The **Makerikeri River** is a river of the north [Canterbury](/source/Canterbury%2C_New_Zealand) region of New Zealand's [South Island](/source/South_Island).[1] It flows south from its headwaters 15 kilometres (9 mi) west of [Amberley](/source/Amberley%2C_New_Zealand), reaching the [Ashley River / Rakahuri](/source/Ashley_River_%2F_Rakahuri) close to [Rangiora](/source/Rangiora).
