**Majid Jalali** ([Persian](/source/Persian_language): مجید جلالی, born 6 September 1956) is an Iranian [football](/source/Association_football) manager and a former player.[1] He has served as the manager in several clubs in Iran like [Pas Tehran](/source/Pas_Tehran_F.C.), [Saba Battery](/source/Saba_Qom_F.C.), [Foolad](/source/Foolad_F.C.), and also national football teams at various youth levels. He is also currently the secretary general of the Iran Football Coaches Association.

## Club career

Jalali was born on 6 September 1956 in [Tehran](/source/Tehran), [Iran](/source/Iran). His parents are originally from [Yazd province](/source/Yazd_province), [Pandar](/source/Pandar). He started his club career with Alborz Tehran at the age of 17. Later, he played for other Tehran clubs like [Vahdat Tehran](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Vahdat_Tehran&action=edit&redlink=1) and [Shahin](/source/Shahin_F.C.).

## International career

In 1982, Jalali was invited to [Iran national team](/source/Iran_national_football_team) but never played for it.

## Coaching career

Jalali started his coaching career aged 21 by coaching Vahdat's youth team while he was playing for the senior team. He officially coached Vahdat's senior team as of 1986. Jalali is most notable for his role as coach for [Pas Tehran](/source/Pas_Tehran_F.C.) and [Saba Battery](/source/Saba_Battery_F.C.) and in recent years when he won the league and [Hazfi Cup](/source/Hazfi_Cup) with these teams, but he had few unsuccessful terms in [Shahid Ghandi](/source/Shahid_Ghandi_Yazd) and [Esteghlal Ahvaz](/source/Esteghlal_Ahvaz_F.C.). He has also served as coach of Iran's [under-16](/source/Iran_national_football_team), and [under-20](/source/Iran_national_under-20_football_team) teams, as well as, Iran's armed forces football team. He was the manager of [Foolad](/source/Foolad_F.C.) in [2008–09](/source/2008%E2%80%9309_Iran_Pro_League) season but left the club because the chairman despite his good results was negotiating with other coaches for the season after. He returned to the club few weeks after the season where the club failed to win any matches and finished 10th in the league. He announced that he will not be renewed his contract at the end of [2011–12 season](/source/2011%E2%80%9312_Iran_Pro_League). After spending one season out, he signed a one-year contract with [Tractor](/source/Tractor_S.C.) on 27 May 2013. He also had bids from [Rah Ahan Sorinet](/source/Rah_Ahan_F.C.) and [Championship](/source/Football_League_Championship) side [Brighton & Hove Albion](/source/Brighton_%26_Hove_Albion_F.C.).[2] He was sacked by the club on 19 January 2014.
