# Maheriv

**Maheriv** (Ukrainian: Магерів; Polish: *Magierów*) is a [rural settlement](/source/Populated_places_in_Ukraine#Rural_settlements) in [Lviv Raion](/source/Lviv_Raion), [Lviv Oblast](/source/Lviv_Oblast), western [Ukraine](/source/Ukraine). It is located approximately 30 kilometres (19 mi) northeast of the city of [Lviv](/source/Lviv). Maheriv hosts the administration of [Dobrosyn-Maheriv settlement hromada](/source/Dobrosyn-Maheriv_settlement_hromada), one of the [hromadas](/source/Hromada) of Ukraine.[1] Population:

## History

Until 18 July 2020, Maheriv belonged to [Zhovkva Raion](/source/Zhovkva_Raion). The raion was abolished in July 2020 as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of raions of Lviv Oblast to seven. The area of Zhovkva Raion was merged into Lviv Raion.[2][3]

Until 26 January 2024, Maheriv was designated [urban-type settlement](/source/Urban-type_settlement). On this day, a new law entered into force which abolished this status, and Maheriv became a rural settlement.[4]

## Economy

### Transportation

[Dobrosyn railway station](/source/Dobrosyn_railway_station) is about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) east of the settlement. It is on the railway connecting Lviv via [Zhovkva](/source/Zhovkva) with [Rava-Ruska](/source/Rava-Ruska). There is infrequent passenger traffic.

The settlement has access to [Highway M09](/source/Highway_M09_(Ukraine)) which connects Lviv with Rava-Ruska, crosses into Poland and continues to [Zamość](/source/Zamo%C5%9B%C4%87).
