**Mah Neshan** ([Persian](/source/Persian_language): ماه نشان[a] is a city in the [Central District](/source/Central_District_(Mahneshan_County)) of [Mahneshan County](/source/Mahneshan_County), [Zanjan](/source/Zanjan_province) province, [Iran](/source/Iran), serving as capital of both the county and the district.[6] It was the administrative center for [Mah Neshan Rural District](/source/Mah_Neshan_Rural_District)[7] until its capital was transferred to the village of [Sarik](/source/Sarik%2C_Zanjan).[8] The village of Mah Neshan was converted to a city in 1995.[3]

## Demographics

### Population

At the time of the 2006 National Census, the city's population was 4,495 in 1,119 households.[9] The following census in 2011 counted 5,439 people in 1,422 households.[10] The 2016 census measured the population of the city as 5,487 people in 1,626 households.[4]
