# Macrocentrinae

The **Macrocentrinae** are a [subfamily](/source/Subfamily) of [braconid](/source/Braconid) [parasitic wasps](/source/Parasitic_wasp). Several species have been used in [biological contro](/source/Biological_pest_control)l programs.[1]

## Description and distribution

Macrocentrines are relatively large braconids, recognizable by the presence of small teeth on the [trochantellus](/source/Arthropod_leg). Many have pale coloration and [nocturnal](/source/Nocturnal) habits. They belong to the [noncyclostome](/source/Braconidae) group.[1]

They are found worldwide.

## Biology

Macrocentrines include solitary and gregarious [koinobiont](/source/Koinobiont) endoparasitoids of [caterpillars](/source/Caterpillar).
