'''Maascenter''' is an important [navigation](/source/navigation) point for ships entering the [Port of Rotterdam](/source/Port_of_Rotterdam). In principle Maascenter is a [buoy](/source/buoy) before the coast of [Rotterdam](/source/Rotterdam), [Netherlands](/source/Netherlands).

Another important buoy in the neighborhood is the Maasgeul buoy as this is where the [Eurogeul](/source/Eurogeul) ends and the [Maasgeul](/source/Maasgeul) starts.<ref name="portg">Port of Rotterdam: [http://www.portofrotterdam.com/en/shipping/sea-shipping/port-information/documents/port_information_guide.pdf Port Information Guide], March, 2012. Retrieved: 30 April 2012</ref>

Maascenter buoy is also the [pilot station](/source/pilot_station) where ships entering the port get their pilot on board (except for ships with a draft > 14 meters as they get their pilot on board before entering the [Eurogeul](/source/Eurogeul). For these ships Maascemter is also important as they will meet their [tugboat](/source/tugboat)s at this point.).<ref name="portg"/>

Ships with destination Rotterdam (that require a pilot) need to contact the traffic-centre 24 hours before expected arrival (ETA) at Maascenter<ref name="portg"/>
