The '''MG Q-type''' (sometimes referred to as the '''MG QA''') is a [racing car](/source/racing_car) that was produced by [MG](/source/MG_(car)) in 1934. The chassis was based on the one used on the [MG K3](/source/MG_K-type) but was narrower and used [N-type](/source/MG_N-type) axles.<ref name="AZ1930" /> The engine used the cylinder block from the [P-type](/source/MG_P-type) but with a special [crankshaft](/source/crankshaft) to bring the capacity down to 746 cc by reducing the stroke from {{convert|83|mm|in|1|abbr=on}} to {{convert|71|mm|in|1|abbr=on}}.<ref name=Magic/> A high-pressure [Zoller supercharger](/source/Zoller_supercharger) was fitted giving a boost to 2.5 atmospheres (1.8 kg/cc) and allowing the engine to produce {{convert|113|bhp|abbr=on}} at 7200 rpm.<ref name="Magic" /> A sprint version was also made with output increased to {{convert|146|bhp|abbr=on}} which at nearly {{convert|200|bhp|abbr=on}} per litre was the highest specific output of any engine in the world at the time <ref name="Beaulieu" >{{cite book

The single-seat version achieved a lap speed of {{convert|122|mi/h|km/h|abbr=on}} at [Brooklands](/source/Brooklands) race track driven by George Harvey-Noble, and the two-seater was capable of {{convert|120|mi/h|km/h|abbr=on}}.<ref name="AZ1930" />

Many "specials" have been built on T-type chassis to mimic the style of the Q-type body.
