**Lysimachus of [Acarnania](/source/Acarnania)** ([Greek](/source/Greek_language): Λυσίμαχος, *Lysimachos*) was one of the tutors of [Alexander the Great](/source/Alexander_the_Great). Though a man of very slender accomplishments, he ingratiated himself with the royal family by calling himself [Phoenix](/source/Phoenix_(son_of_Amyntor)), and Alexander [Achilles](/source/Achilles), and Philip [Peleus](/source/Peleus); and by this sort of flattery, according to [Plutarch](/source/Plutarch), he obtained the second place among the young prince's tutors.
