'''Luppe''' is a river of [Saxony](/source/Saxony) and [Saxony-Anhalt](/source/Saxony-Anhalt), [Germany](/source/Germany). It lies in the [floodplain](/source/floodplain) around the confluence of the rivers [Saale](/source/Saale) and [White Elster](/source/White_Elster), near the cities [Leipzig](/source/Leipzig) and [Halle](/source/Halle_(Saale)). It flows into the Saale in [Schkopau](/source/Schkopau). Until the 1930s, when the [Neue Luppe](/source/Neue_Luppe) was constructed, the Luppe was a [distributary](/source/distributary) of the White Elster. The [Nahle](/source/Nahle) and the [Alte Luppe](/source/Alte_Luppe) are relicts of the former course of the Luppe.
