'''Lunner''' is a [municipality](/source/Municipalities_of_Norway) in [Akershus](/source/Akershus) [county](/source/Counties_of_Norway), [Norway](/source/Norway). It is part of the [traditional region](/source/Districts_of_Norway) of [Hadeland](/source/Hadeland). The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of [Roa](/source/Roa%2C_Norway). Lunner was established when it was separated from [Jevnaker Municipality](/source/Jevnaker_Municipality) on 1 January 1898. From 1 January 2020 the municipality belonged to [Viken](/source/Viken_(county)) county and afterwards it was handed over to its successor Akershus. It was in [Oppland](/source/Oppland) before that.

==General information==
===Name===
The municipality (originally the [parish](/source/parish)) is named after the old ''Lunner'' farm ([Old Norse](/source/Old_Norse): ''Lunnar''), since the first church was built here. The name is the [plural](/source/plural) form of {{lang|no|lunnr}} "[log](/source/Logging)". (The farm and the church are located on a long hill which was probably compared to a log.)<ref>{{cite book|title=Norske gaardnavne: Kristians amt (Anden halvdel)|edition=4|author-link=Oluf Rygh|last=Rygh|first=Oluf|publisher=W. ===Coat-of-arms===
The [coat-of-arms](/source/Coat_of_arms) is from modern times. They were granted on 4 April 1986. The arms show a [Lily of the Valley](/source/Lily_of_the_Valley), as a symbol for the [forest](/source/forest)s in the area. The Lily of the Valley is a very common [flower](/source/flower) in the [meadows](/source/meadows) and forests. The flowers also symbolize the eight schools in the municipality.<ref>{{cite web|author=Norske Kommunevåpen|year=1990|title=Nye kommunevåbener i Norden|url=http://www.ngw.nl/int/nor/l/lunner.htm|access-date=2009-01-01}}</ref>
