# Luke Challoner

**Luke Challoner**, [DD](/source/Doctor_of_Divinity) (1550–1613) was an Irish academic.[1]

Challoner was born in [Dublin](/source/Dublin) and educated at [Trinity College, Cambridge](/source/Trinity_College,_Cambridge).[2]

He was one of the three founding fellows of [Trinity College Dublin](/source/Trinity_College_Dublin). In 1597 he was appointed a Prebendary of Mulhuddart at [St Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin](/source/St_Patrick's_Cathedral,_Dublin) in 1597. He was the first [Regius Professor of Divinity](/source/Regius_Professor_of_Divinity#Professors_at_Dublin) at TCD, serving from 1600 until his death on 27 April 1613.[3]
