# Luke Bayer

**Luke Charles Bayer** (born 25 August 1992) is an English actor and singer who is known for his work in [musical theatre](/source/Musical_theatre). He is best known for his work in the Original West End Cast of *[Everybody's Talking About Jamie](/source/Everybody's_Talking_About_Jamie)* at the [Apollo Theatre](/source/Apollo_Theatre) and for appearing on *[The X Factor](/source/The_X_Factor)* in 2007.[1]

## Early life

Bayer was born and raised in [North Yorkshire](/source/North_Yorkshire), England and attended [South Craven School](/source/South_Craven_School)[2] from the age of 11 until he was 18. At the age of 14, Bayer successfully auditioned for *[The X Factor](/source/The_X_Factor)*[1] making it through to [Dannii Minogue](/source/Dannii_Minogue)'s[3] judges houses as one of the final six boys where he was eliminated at that stage. In 2012 Bayer started training at [Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts](/source/Mountview_Academy_of_Theatre_Arts)[4] in London, graduating 2015.

## Career

In 2005, Bayer successfully auditioned for the Les Misérables 20th Anniversary Concert at the [Sondheim Theatre](/source/Sondheim_Theatre), London, in which he performed with 34 other young people who had all appeared in the recently released Schools Edition version of the show.

Upon completing his training at [Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts](/source/Mountview_Academy_of_Theatre_Arts), Bayer toured China with The 12 Tenors.[3]

For his role as Alternate Jamie in the Original West End Cast of *[Everybody's Talking About Jamie](/source/Everybody's_Talking_About_Jamie)*, he won a BroadwayWorld Award for Best Understudy/Alternate in a Show.[5] During his time with the show, Bayer performed as Jamie at [Children In Need](/source/Children_In_Need)[6] and West End Live.[7]

Luke played Woof in a Concert Production of [*Hair*](/source/Hair_(musical)), directed by [Arlene Phillips](/source/Arlene_Phillips),[8] in *[RENT](/source/RENT)* at the [Hope Mill Theatre](/source/Hope_Mill_Theatre), playing the role of Mark,[9] and in [*Millennials*](/source/Millennials_(musical)) at [The Other Palace](/source/The_Other_Palace) in the summer of 2022.[10] He then did a one-man musical, *Diva: Live from Hell!*[11] which opened to rave reviews, with [The Guardian](/source/The_Guardian) deeming it '***unmissable'***.[12] He also won the [Off West End](/source/Off_West_End) Award for Best Leading Actor in a Musical for his performance,[13] with the show being nominated for a [WhatsOnStage Award](/source/WhatsOnStage_Award).[14]

## Theatre

Bayer has performed in a number of professional theatre productions. He appeared in the European premiere of *[Yank!](/source/Yank!) The Musical*[15] at the [Hope Mill Theatre](/source/Hope_Mill_Theatre) [Manchester](/source/Manchester)[16] in early 2017.

He appeared in the musical *Fiver*.[17] He won a West End Wilma Award[18] for his role in the show. A cast album of the show has since been recorded and released during the COVID-19 pandemic, featuring Bayer.[citation needed]

At the start of 2023, Luke returned once more to the [Hope Mill Theatre](/source/Hope_Mill_Theatre) in Manchester to perform in the European Premiere of the Broadway Musical *[Head over Heels (musical)](/source/Head_over_Heels_(musical))* in the lead role of Musidorus.[19]

On 10 June 2025, Bayer joined the West End Cast of *[Titanique](/source/Titanique)* as [Jack Dawson](/source/Jack_Dawson_(character)).
