**Lovie Simone Taylor** (born November 29, 1998)[1][2] is an American actress, best known for her role as Zora Greenleaf in the drama series *[Greenleaf](/source/Greenleaf_(TV_series))* (2016–2020), and Keisha Clark in the critically acclaimed [Netflix](/source/Netflix) teen drama series *[Forever](/source/Forever_(2025_TV_series))* (2025).

## Early life and education

Simone was born and raised in [New York City](/source/New_York_City) in [The Bronx](/source/The_Bronx). Here, she attended [Frederick Douglass Academy](/source/Frederick_Douglass_Academy) before moving to [Orange County, New York](/source/Orange_County,_New_York). Here, she attended [Monroe-Woodbury High School](/source/Monroe-Woodbury_High_School) until graduating in 2016. Her mother is [African American](/source/African_Americans) and her father is [Ghanaian](/source/Ghanaian_people).[3] She has a twin sister named Yori, who's a musician that goes by Reiyo, The Giant[4] and a younger brother and sister.[1][5] She studied at an acting school in New York and later appeared in a national commercial for [JC Penney](/source/JC_Penney).[1]

## Career

Beginning in 2016, Simone starred in the [Oprah Winfrey Network](/source/Oprah_Winfrey_Network) drama series, *[Greenleaf](/source/Greenleaf_(TV_series))* playing the role of Zora Greenleaf, the daughter of Kerissa ([Kim Hawthorne](/source/Kim_Hawthorne)) and Jacob Greenleaf ([Lamman Rucker](/source/Lamman_Rucker)).[5] Simone was originally cast as a recurring cast member, but was promoted to a series regular by the second season.[6] Simone later made her film debut in a supporting role opposite [Jennifer Hudson](/source/Jennifer_Hudson) and [Kelvin Harrison Jr.](/source/Kelvin_Harrison_Jr.) in the 2018 drama film *[Monster](/source/Monster_(2018_film))*, which premiered at the [2018 Sundance Film Festival](/source/2018_Sundance_Film_Festival).[1][7] The following year, she appeared in two drama films that premiered at the [2019 Sundance Film Festival](/source/2019_Sundance_Film_Festival), *[Share](/source/Share_(2019_film))* and *[Selah and the Spades](/source/Selah_and_the_Spades)* in which she played the titular role.[8][9] Both films received positive reviews from critics.[10][11] In 2020, Simone played one of the leads in writer-director [Zoe Lister-Jones](/source/Zoe_Lister-Jones)' horror film *[The Craft: Legacy](/source/The_Craft:_Legacy)*, a sequel to the 1996 film *[The Craft](/source/The_Craft_(film))*.[12][13][14]
