"**Loungin**" is a song by American rapper [LL Cool J](/source/LL_Cool_J), released on June 25, 1996, as the third and final single from his sixth studio album, *[Mr. Smith](/source/Mr._Smith_(album))* (1995). Issued by [Def Jam Music Group](/source/Def_Jam_Recordings), the LP version was produced by [Rashad Smith](/source/Rashad_Smith_(producer)) and features backing vocals by R&B duo [Terri & Monica](/source/Terri_%26_Monica). The radio remix edit, titled "Loungin (Who Do Ya Luv)", appeared on the [soundtrack](/source/Good_Burger_(soundtrack)) to [Paramount](/source/Paramount_Pictures) and [Nickelodeon](/source/Nickelodeon)'s 1997 comedy film *[Good Burger](/source/Good_Burger)*, remixed by [Trackmasters](/source/Trackmasters) (under the name Tone) and featuring backing vocals by R&B group [Total](/source/Total_(group)). "Loungin (Who Do Ya Luv)" was later included on LL Cool J's compilation album *[All World: Greatest Hits](/source/All_World%3A_Greatest_Hits)* and also appeared in an episode of his sitcom, *[In the House](/source/In_the_House_(TV_series))*.

## Composition

This original LP version of "Loungin" features a [sample](/source/Sampling_(music)) of "[Nite and Day](/source/Nite_and_Day)" by [Al B. Sure!](/source/Al_B._Sure!), while "Loungin (Who Do Ya Luv)" samples "[Who Do You Love](/source/Who_Do_You_Love_(Bernard_Wright_song))" by [Bernard Wright](/source/Bernard_Wright).

## Commercial performance

The single was a commercial success, peaking at number three on the US [*Billboard* Hot 100](/source/Billboard_Hot_100), number one on the *[Billboard](/source/Billboard_(magazine))* [Hot Rap Singles](/source/Hot_Rap_Singles) chart, and number four on the *Billboard* [Hot R&B Singles](/source/Hot_R%26B_Singles) chart. It sold 1.3 million copies, earning a [platinum certification](/source/RIAA_certification) from the [Recording Industry Association of America](/source/Recording_Industry_Association_of_America) (RIAA).[1][2]

## Music video

The music video for "Loungin (Who Do Ya Luv)" was directed by [Hype Williams](/source/Hype_Williams). It includes a cameo from [Funkmaster Flex](/source/Funkmaster_Flex) as well as performance shots from [Total](/source/Total_(group)). The video depicts LL Cool J having an affair with a woman who is unhappy in her relationship.
