Green attended [Jefferson County High School](/source/Jefferson_County_High_School_(Mississippi)) in [Fayette, Mississippi](/source/Fayette%2C_Mississippi) and [lettered](/source/letterman_(sports)) in football. He played [college football](/source/college_football) for the [Alcorn State Braves](/source/Alcorn_State_Braves_football).

On February 19, 2007, the Broncos resigned Green to a 3-year, $2.5 million contract with a $300,000 signing bonus.
