He studied at [Illinois State University](/source/Illinois_State_University) and the [Fine Art Studio of Rotblatt-Amrany](/source/Fine_Art_Studio_of_Rotblatt-Amrany) before beginning a 30-year career in sculpture, particularly [bronze](/source/bronze) works of [sportspeople](/source/Sports_in_Seattle) in [Seattle](/source/Seattle).<ref name="Times-Wilkens"/>

Cella's works include four statues commissioned by the [Seattle Mariners](/source/Seattle_Mariners) and displayed at [T-Mobile Park](/source/T-Mobile_Park).
