==Profession career==

Carr began his career in 1930 with the Vancouver Lions of the [Pacific Coast Hockey League](/source/Pacific_Coast_Hockey_League). He next played for the [Buffalo Bisons](/source/Buffalo_Bisons_(IHL)) of the [International Hockey League](/source/International_Hockey_League_(1929%E2%80%9336)). In [1934](/source/1933%E2%80%9334_NHL_season), Carr signed with the [New York Rangers](/source/New_York_Rangers). After one season with the Rangers, Carr signed with the rival [New York Americans](/source/New_York_Americans), with whom he played for the following seven seasons.<ref name=":0" />

In 1941, Carr was traded to the [Toronto Maple Leafs](/source/Toronto_Maple_Leafs) for [Red Heron](/source/Red_Heron), [Nick Knott](/source/Nick_Knott), [Gus Marker](/source/Gus_Marker) and cash. It was with Toronto that he enjoyed his most success as a player. In [1942](/source/1941%E2%80%9342_NHL_season) he won his first [Stanley Cup](/source/Stanley_Cup) Championship, when his team, down three games to zero, won four straight against the [Detroit Red Wings](/source/Detroit_Red_Wings) in the Stanley Cup Finals, winning the championship. Carr played another four seasons with the Maple Leafs, winning a second [Stanley Cup](/source/Stanley_Cup) Championship in [1945](/source/1944%E2%80%9345_NHL_season). Following his retirement, Carr moved to [Calgary](/source/Calgary), [Alberta](/source/Alberta), and opened the Amylorne Motel. The motel featured an 18-hole golf course and a driving range. He also co-owned a Calgary poolroom with Calgary native and former New York American [Fred Hergerts](/source/Fred_Hergerts).
