"Look Through Any Window" was The Hollies' first American Billboard Top 40 hit, peaking at No.32 on 22 January 1966 ("[Just One Look](/source/Just_One_Look_(EP))" in 1964 had been the band's first American chart hit). It made No.3 in Canada in the [RPM Magazine](/source/RPM_(magazine)) charts, as well as in South Africa.<ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/obj/028020/f2/nlc008388.5590.pdf| title=RPM Play Sheet - December 6, 1965}}</ref><ref>{{cite web|title=SA Charts 1965–March 1989|url=http://www.rock.co.za/files/springbok_top_20_(H).html|accessdate=5 September 2018}}</ref> It was written by [Graham Gouldman](/source/Graham_Gouldman) and Charles Silverman. The Hollies also recorded a version in French (titled "Regardez par des fenêtres") that was not officially released at the time but was included on the 1988 compilation ''Rarities''.

''[Cash Box](/source/Cash_Box)'' described it as a "medium-paced laconic teen-slanted ditty with a contagious repeating rhythmic [riff](/source/riff_(music))."<ref name=cb>{{cite magazine |title=CashBox Record Reviews |date=October 2, 1965 |page=12 |access-date=2022-01-12 |url=https://worldradiohistory.com/Archive-All-Music/Cash-Box/60s/1965/CB-1965-10-02.pdf |magazine=Cash Box}}</ref>

First released as a single in the UK, it was included in the US version of the band's 1965 album ''[Hollies](/source/Hollies_(1965_album))'' titled ''Hear! Here!'' by their US label, [Imperial Records](/source/Imperial_Records).

The B-side, "So Lonely", later included on ''[Hollies](/source/Hollies_(1965_album))'' and ''Hear! Here!'', was also recorded by [the Everly Brothers](/source/the_Everly_Brothers) and released in July 1966 on their ''[Two Yanks in England](/source/Two_Yanks_in_England)'' album.
