The '''Longhorn Conference''' was a [junior college](/source/junior_college) [athletic conference](/source/athletic_conference) with member schools located in [Texas](/source/Texas) that operated from 1954 to 1957. The conference was formed on November 23, 1953, at the [Rice Hotel](/source/The_Rice_(Houston)) in [Houston](/source/Houston), and eliminated the [Big Six Junior College Conference](/source/Big_Six_Junior_College_Conference) and the [South Texas Conference](/source/South_Texas_Conference). The conference initially had five members [Del Mar College](/source/Del_Mar_College), [Kilgore College](/source/Kilgore_College), [Tyler Junior College](/source/Tyler_Junior_College), [Victoria College](/source/Victoria_College_(Texas)), and [Wharton County Junior College](/source/Wharton_County_Junior_College).
