==Description==

The shell is polished. Its color is white, with dark chestnut or chocolate spots, usually arranged in three revolving series on the [whorl](/source/Whorl_(mollusc))s of the [teleoconch](/source/teleoconch) and five series on the [body whorl](/source/body_whorl). The [columella](/source/Columella_(gastropod)) is three-plaited with the upper plait largest. The [lip](/source/Lip_(gastropod)) is sometimes lirate within. The peripheral groove becomes in this species either obsolete or indicated by a slight angle.<ref>[https://archive.org/stream/manualconch08tryorich#page/n5/mode/2up G.W. This marine species occurs in the Indo-W Pacific ([Red Sea](/source/Red_Sea), [Tanzania](/source/Tanzania), [Madagascar](/source/Madagascar),  [Mauritius](/source/Mauritius), [Mascarene](/source/Mascarene) Basin<ref name="WoRMS" /> and in [South East Asia](/source/South_East_Asia), in [Vietnam](/source/Vietnam) and [Philippines](/source/Philippines)).
