# London North

**London North** was a provincial [electoral district](/source/Electoral_district_(Canada)) in [Ontario](/source/Ontario), [Canada](/source/Canada). It was first created for the [1926 provincial election](/source/1926_Ontario_general_election) when the [London](/source/London_(federal_electoral_district)) riding was divided in two sections, and then eliminated prior to the [1934 provincial election](/source/1934_Ontario_general_election) when the city was re-configured as a single seat. London North was re-established for the [1955 provincial election](/source/1955_Ontario_general_election) and retained until 1999, when most of its territory was integrated into the new riding of [London North Centre](/source/London_North_Centre_(federal_electoral_district)).

The riding was [Progressive Conservative](/source/Progressive_Conservative_Party_of_Ontario) bastion for most of its history, and was represented by both [Premier](/source/Premier_of_Ontario) [John Robarts](/source/John_Robarts) and [cabinet minister](/source/Executive_Council_of_Ontario) [Gordon Walker](/source/Gordon_Walker_(businessman)) at different times. [Marvin Shore](/source/Marvin_Shore) won the riding as a [Liberal](/source/Ontario_Liberal_Party) in 1975, and [crossed the floor](/source/Crossed_the_floor) to the Progressive Conservatives the following year. Liberal [Ronald Van Horne](/source/Ronald_Van_Horne) won it back for his party in [1977](/source/1977_Ontario_general_election), and held it until his retirement in 1988. Progressive Conservative [Dianne Cunningham](/source/Dianne_Cunningham) was its final representative.
