**Logan Laurice Browning** (born June 9, 1989)[1] is an American actress. She is best known for starring as Samantha White in the 2017 [Netflix](/source/Netflix) satirical-drama series *[Dear White People](/source/Dear_White_People_(TV_series))*. She is also known for playing [Sasha](/source/Sasha_(Bratz)) in the 2007 film *[Bratz: The Movie](/source/Bratz_(film))*, Brianna Brown in *[Meet the Browns](/source/Meet_the_Browns_(TV_series))*, [Jelena Howard](/source/Jelena_Howard) on the [VH1](/source/VH1) series *[Hit the Floor](/source/Hit_the_Floor_(TV_series))*, and Zora in the [PlayStation Network](/source/PlayStation_Network) series *[Powers](/source/Powers_(American_TV_series))*.[2]

## Early life

Browning was born in Atlanta, Georgia. Her biological mother is white and her biological father is African American. Her adoptive father is mixed race and her adoptive mother is of African-American ancestry.[3] Growing up, she did a lot of activities, from dancing for a local ballet company to cheerleading in junior high.[4] She attended [Vanderbilt University](/source/Vanderbilt_University) in [Nashville, Tennessee](/source/Nashville%2C_Tennessee).[5][6]

## Career

In 2003, Browning studied acting from a young age by taking classes at Barbizon Modeling and Acting School in Atlanta.[7] She made her acting debut in the teen series *[Summerland](/source/Summerland_(TV_series))* as the character Carrie, and played Vanessa in the [Nickelodeon](/source/Nickelodeon) series *[Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide](/source/Ned's_Declassified_School_Survival_Guide)* in 2005–06. She also appeared as the main love interest in [Dijon Talton](/source/Dijon_Talton)'s video for the song "Wild Out".

In 2007, Browning starred as one of the main characters, Sasha, in the live-action theatrical feature *[Bratz: The Movie](/source/Bratz_(film))*, based on the popular fashion doll line.

Browning joined the cast of *[Meet the Browns](/source/Meet_the_Browns_(TV_series))* during the second season, replacing Brianne Gould as the character Brianna Ortiz. She makes a brief appearance in [Prima J](/source/Prima_J)'s "[Rockstar](/source/Rockstar_(Prima_J_song))" music video, as well as [B5](/source/B5_(band))'s music video "U Got Me". Browning had a recurring role on the [Disney XD](/source/Disney_XD) series *[Pair of Kings](/source/Pair_of_Kings)*.

She appeared in two episodes of *[The Secret Circle](/source/The_Secret_Circle_(TV_series))*, a TV series based on the [novels of the same name](/source/The_Secret_Circle) by L.J. Smith. In April 2012, Browning was cast as [Jelena Howard](/source/Jelena_Howard) in VH1's *[Hit the Floor](/source/Hit_the_Floor_(TV_series))*. Before "Hit the Floor", Browning was not a professional dancer. Browning starred alongside her *Hit the Floor* co-star, [Katherine Bailess](/source/Katherine_Bailess), in the YouTube comedic series *Shit Southern Women Say*.[8] In July 2016, it was announced that Browning would star in the role of Samantha White in the [Netflix](/source/Netflix) satirical-drama series *[Dear White People](/source/Dear_White_People_(TV_series))*.[9] In 2017, Browning was cast in the role of Lizzie in [Netflix](/source/Netflix) horror film *[The Perfection](/source/The_Perfection)*.[10] The film was released on May 24, 2019.[11]
