'''Lochrin''' is a small area in [Edinburgh](/source/Edinburgh), the capital of [Scotland](/source/Scotland). It is in the south-west corner of the city centre, to the west of [Tollcross](/source/Tollcross%2C_Edinburgh), and south of [Fountainbridge](/source/Fountainbridge).<ref name=gmap>{{Google maps |url=https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@55.9427476,-3.2085206,18z |title=Lochrin |accessdate=31 January 2015}}</ref> Lochrin contains a wide mixture of retail shops, leisure facilities, other businesses and [tenement](/source/tenement) housing. Major new office and residential developments have replaced some of the older buildings.

When the basins at the eastern end of the [Union Canal](/source/Union_Canal_(Scotland)) were filled in and the canal truncated in 1921, Lochrin Basin became the eastern terminus. At that time, the [Leamington Lift Bridge](/source/Leamington_Lift_Bridge) was moved from where [Fountainbridge](/source/Fountainbridge) crossed the canal to its current location just to the west of the basin.<ref name="can">{{Historic Environment Scotland|cat=PLA |num=52717 |num2=NT27SW 88 |desc=Edinburgh, Gilmore Park, Union Canal Lifting Bridge |access-date=23 June 2025}}</ref>
