# Ljan Church

**Ljan Church** (Norwegian: *Ljan kirke*) is a [parish church](/source/Parish_church) of the [Church of Norway](/source/Church_of_Norway) in the district of [Nordstrand](/source/Nordstrand,_Norway) in [Oslo](/source/Oslo), [Norway](/source/Norway).

The church was consecrated on 10 April 1932 and is shrouded by [pine trees](/source/Pine_tree) on a hill. Later a parish center was built just below. The architectural style is [neo-Romanesque](/source/Neo-Romanesque) and [medieval](/source/Medieval) inspired.[1] There are no signs of modernism.[2] The architect was Olav Olson (1879-1945).[3]

It is a relatively small church in stone. The church tower is at the entrance. The [choir](/source/Choir_(architecture)) is narrow. It has two [sacristies](/source/Sacristy). The roof is covered with [copper](/source/Copper) plates. Sculptor Trygve Dammen (1900-1973) made the [pulpit](/source/Pulpit) and [baptismal font](/source/Baptismal_font), a wooden [sculpture](/source/Sculpture) and created wooden sculptures under the ceiling. There are [stained glass](/source/Stained_glass) in all the windows, composed by artist Rolf Klemetsrud (1900-1956). [Wrought Iron](/source/Wrought_Iron) works in windows and [altar](/source/Altar) ring is by Karl Bilgrei (1898-1990). The [crucifix](/source/Crucifix) over the main entrance is made by Halfdan Davidsen. The two [church bells](/source/Church_bells) are made by [Olsen Nauen Bell Foundry](/source/Olsen_Nauen_Bell_Foundry) in [Tønsberg](/source/T%C3%B8nsberg).[4][5] [1][6][7]
