**Lizo Mzimba** is an English journalist and television presenter. He is best known for being a presenter for *[Newsround](/source/Newsround)* between 1998 and 2008 and is currently the Entertainment Correspondent for [BBC News](/source/BBC_News).[1][2]

## Early life

Mzimba attended the independent [Solihull School](/source/Solihull_School) (during which time he was also leader of the Birmingham Schools' Symphony Orchestra) and the [University of Birmingham](/source/University_of_Birmingham). Whilst at Birmingham he was a member of the student TV station, winning awards at NaSTA (National Student Television Association). By 1991, he was contributing to *[Sounds](/source/Sounds_(magazine))* magazine.[3]

## Career

Mzimba was one of the longest-serving presenters, a reporter and an assistant producer for [CBBC](/source/CBBC)'s *[Newsround](/source/Newsround)* between 1998 and 2008.[4][5]

In 2003, Mzimba hosted a televised interview with [J. K. Rowling](/source/J._K._Rowling) and [Steve Kloves](/source/Steve_Kloves) about the 2002 film *[Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets](/source/Harry_Potter_and_the_Chamber_of_Secrets_(film))*.

In 2008, Mzimba became the [BBC News](/source/BBC_News) Entertainment Correspondent. Along with the traditional BBC News bulletins and the News Channel, he has also appeared on *[BBC Breakfast](/source/BBC_Breakfast)*. Mzimba has also appeared as himself on *[The Sarah Jane Adventures](/source/The_Sarah_Jane_Adventures)*. In 2023, during [Jai Paul's](/source/Jai_Paul) first-ever live performance, at [Coachella](/source/Coachella), Mzimba's image was used as a part of the visuals of the set.[6]
