# Littleton Formation

The **Littleton Formation** is a [geologic formation](/source/Formation_(geology)) in [New Hampshire](/source/New_Hampshire). It preserves [fossils](/source/Fossils) dating back to the [Devonian](/source/Devonian) [period](/source/Period_(geology)). The formation is exposed on several of New Hampshire's most prominent mountains, including [Mount Washington](/source/Mount_Washington_(New_Hampshire)) and the northern [Presidential Range](/source/Presidential_Range), [Mount Moosilauke](/source/Mount_Moosilauke), and [Mount Monadnock](/source/Mount_Monadnock).[1]
