She studied at [Loughborough University](/source/Loughborough_University) and obtained an MA in journalism at [Goldsmiths College](/source/Goldsmiths_College), also working as a freelance journalist.<ref name="Groskop" /> She married Peter Lynch in December 2006.<ref name="Groskop" /> They lived in south-west London and she eventually became the editor of ''[Real Homes](/source/Real_Homes)'' and ''[Inspired Living](/source/Inspired_Living)'' magazines.<ref name="Groskop" />

In 2008 Lynch was diagnosed with [breast cancer](/source/breast_cancer), for which she had a left-side [mastectomy](/source/mastectomy), [radiotherapy](/source/radiotherapy) and [chemotherapy](/source/chemotherapy), followed by [reconstructive surgery](/source/reconstructive_surgery).<ref name="BBCi" />

She began blogging about her experiences, using [Blogspot](/source/Blogspot). [Stephen Fry](/source/Stephen_Fry) called her blog "funny and brilliant".<ref name="Groskop" />

In 2011, secondary cancer was found, in her bones and brain, and was diagnosed as incurable.<ref name="BBCi" /><ref name="Groskop" />
