==Biography==
Rocheman was born on 18 June 1928 in the [12th arrondissement of Paris](/source/12th_arrondissement_of_Paris) to a [Jewish](/source/Jewish_people) family of [Polish](/source/Polish_people) origin. At the age of 16, Rocheman became one of the youngest maquisards in the [Bureau Central de Renseignements et d'Action](/source/Bureau_Central_de_Renseignements_et_d'Action).

Rocheman studied at the [Lycée Voltaire](/source/Lyc%C3%A9e_Voltaire_(Paris)) in [Paris](/source/Paris), where he obtained a baccalaureate in philosophy in 1946. He also studied musicology and subsequently became a musician, specializing in old French songs, the first of which was originally performed by [Georges Brassens](/source/Georges_Brassens).
