## History

The ancient Iranian town of [Ganzak](/source/Ganzak) is identified as being near Leylan in the [Miandoab](/source/Miandoab) plain.[9][10] Ganzak was built by the Achaemenids, and was the seat of the satrap of [Media](/source/Media_(region)). Later, it served as the capital of the kingdom of [Atropatene](/source/Atropatene).
