# Lewis Pryce

**Lewis Hugh Oswald Pryce** (1 August 1873 – 30 September 1930)[1] was a Welsh [Anglican](/source/Anglican) priest[2] in the first third of the 20th century who rose to become [Archdeacon of Wrexham](/source/Archdeacon_of_Wrexham).[3]

The son of [Shadrach Pryce](/source/Shadrach_Pryce),[4] [Dean of St Asaph](/source/Dean_of_St_Asaph) from 1899 to 1910, he was educated at [Clifton College](/source/Clifton_College)[5] and [Pembroke College, Cambridge](/source/Pembroke_College,_Cambridge).[6] He was [ordained](/source/Ordained) [Deacon](/source/Deacon) in 1896; and [Priest](/source/Priest) in 1897. After [curacies](/source/Curate) in [Lampeter](/source/Lampeter) and [Brecon](/source/Brecon) he held [incumbencies](/source/Vicar) in [Wrexham](/source/Wrexham) and [Bistre](/source/Bistre). He was [Warden](/source/Warden_(college)) of [Ruthin](/source/Ruthin) from 1909 to 1916; [Vicar](/source/Vicar) of [Colwyn Bay](/source/Colwyn_Bay) from 1916 to 1923; and [Rural Dean](/source/Rural_Dean) of [Wrexham](/source/Wrexham) from 1923 until his appointment as [Archdeacon](/source/Archdeacon).[7]
