# Lever Press

**Lever Press** is a [university press](/source/University_press), based out of [Ann Arbor, MI](/source/Ann_Arbor,_MI). Though founded in 2016 with the help of [Michigan Publishing](/source/University_of_Michigan_Library#Michigan_Publishing), [Amherst College Press](/source/Amherst_College_Press), and the Oberlin Group,[1][2] Lever Press is not affiliated with a single university. Instead, it represents a consortium of universities, each of which helps govern and guide the press.[3] All publications issued by the press are released as [open access](/source/Open_access) works, with the cost of production being paid for by the participating universities.[4] The press is a member of the [Association of University Presses](/source/Association_of_University_Presses).[5]
