**Lernanist** ([Armenian](/source/Armenian_language): Լեռնանիստ, also [Romanized](/source/Romanize) as **Lerrnanist**; formerly, **Verin Akhta** and **Verkhnyaya Akhta**) is a village in the [Kotayk Province](/source/Kotayk_Province) of [Armenia](/source/Armenia). It is home to the descendants of Armenian settlers from [Van](/source/Van%2C_Turkey) who survived the [Armenian genocide](/source/Armenian_genocide).[1]
