Before playing for Villa he played for Wellington Town and also had spells with [Bordesley Green](/source/Bordesley_Green), Washwood Heath Council Schools, Saltley Baptists and Wolseley Athletic Works FC.

Villa won 11 - 2 over the select Oslo-combined ''[Lyn og Frig](/source/Lyn_og_Frig)'' including [FK Lyn](/source/FK_Lyn) & [Frigg Oslo](/source/Frigg_Oslo) players. Capewell left Villa for [Walsall](/source/Walsall) in February 1930.
