**Roman Mathias** "**Lefty**" **Bertrand** (February 28, 1909 – March 17, 2002) was an American [Major League Baseball](/source/Major_League_Baseball) [pitcher](/source/Pitcher). Bertrand played one game for the [Philadelphia Phillies](/source/Philadelphia_Phillies) in 1936. On April 15, he pitched the final two innings of the Phillies' 12–4 loss to the [Boston Bees](/source/1936_Boston_Bees_season) at [Shibe Park](/source/Shibe_Park) surrendering 2 [earned runs](/source/Earned_run) while [striking out](/source/Strikeout) 1.[1]
