# Lee Roache

**Lee Daniel Roache** (born 30 April 1984)[1] is an English retired [footballer](/source/Association_football) who played as a [striker](/source/Forward_(association_football)). He played in [the Football League](/source/The_Football_League) for [Barnet](/source/Barnet_F.C.).[2]

## Career

Roache, born in [Leytonstone](/source/Leytonstone)[1] and a product of [Barnet](/source/Barnet_F.C.)'s youth academy system, was given a professional contract in the summer of 2003. He spent time on loan at [Berkhamsted Town](/source/Berkhamsted_Town_F.C.),[3] [Bishop's Stortford](/source/Bishop's_Stortford_F.C.)[4] and [Windsor & Eton](/source/Windsor_%26_Eton_F.C._(1892))[5] during the 2003–04 season, and still found time to make his Barnet debut, on 14 October in the [Football League Trophy](/source/Football_League_Trophy) against [Second Division](/source/Football_League_Second_Division) club [Brentford](/source/Brentford_F.C.).[6] He helped the club gain [promotion](/source/Promotion_and_relegation) from the [Conference](/source/National_League_(division)) the following season, and made his debut in [the Football League](/source/The_Football_League) on 27 August 2005, as a late [substitute](/source/Substitute_(association_football)) in the 1–0 home defeat to [Grimsby Town](/source/Grimsby_Town_F.C.).[2] In 2006, he went out on loan again, spending two months at [Yeading](/source/Yeading_F.C.),[7] and was released at the end of the 2005–06 season.[8]

Roache joined [Conference South](/source/Conference_South) club [Cambridge City](/source/Cambridge_City_F.C.), where he spent two and a half years, including a spell on loan to [Eastleigh](/source/Eastleigh_F.C.),[9] and scored 21 goals from 91 appearances in all competitions. He then joined [Conference National](/source/Conference_National) side [Histon](/source/Histon_F.C.) in January 2009 for "a four-figure fee".[10] He made his Histon debut as a substitute against [Forest Green Rovers](/source/Forest_Green_Rovers_F.C.) in February 2009,[11] the first of twelve appearances from the bench without scoring, and was released before the 2009–10 season.[12] He then joined [Braintree Town](/source/Braintree_Town_F.C.),[13] before a brief spell with [Bath City](/source/Bath_City_F.C.), afterwards joining [Hemel Hempstead Town](/source/Hemel_Hempstead_Town_F.C.) in March 2010, and then at [Thurrock](/source/Thurrock_F.C.). Roache signed for [Harlow Town](/source/Harlow_Town_F.C.) at the start of the 2011–12 season, but was released on 1 September.[14] He signed for [Dunstable Town](/source/Dunstable_Town_F.C.) soon after, scoring 25 goals in his just 26 games including two hat-tricks. In all competitions, Roache went on to score 113 goals across five seasons,[15] before re-joining [Bishop's Stortford](/source/Bishop's_Stortford_F.C.) in June 2016.[16] He then joined [Bedford Town](/source/Bedford_Town_F.C.) on dual registration.[17] On Sunday 7 February Roache came out of retirement, and joined [Hayling United](/source/Hayling_United_F.C) on Joe Regan's Football Manager 21 save with The Humbugs. It is expected, Lee will retire at the end of the 20–21 season, after an 18-year career full of goals, becoming a cult hero at his final club.
