**Lee Gaskell** (born 28 October 1990) is an English professional [rugby league](/source/Rugby_league) footballer plays as a [stand-off](/source/Five-eighth), [fullback](/source/Fullback_(rugby_league)) or [centre](/source/Rugby_league_positions#Centre) for [Hunslet](/source/Hunslet_RLFC) in the [RFL Championship](/source/RFL_Championship).[3]

He has also played in the [Super League](/source/Super_League) for [St Helens](/source/St_Helens_R.F.C.) and spent time on loan from [Saints](/source/St_Helens_R.F.C.) at the [Salford Red Devils](/source/Salford_Red_Devils). He played for the [Bradford Bulls](/source/Bradford_Bulls) in the Super League and in the [Kingstone Press Championship](/source/Kingstone_Press_Championship).

## Background

Gaskell was born in [St Helens](/source/St_Helens%2C_Merseyside), Merseyside, England.

He started his career with amateur club Blackbrook Royals.[3]

## Playing career

### St Helens

Gaskell made his Super League début for St Helens in a loss at home to [Catalans Dragons](/source/Catalans_Dragons) in round 21 of 2010's [Super League XV](/source/Super_League_XV). He started the match at stand-off and scored a try.[4]

He played in the [2011 Super League Grand Final](/source/2011_Super_League_Grand_Final) defeat by [Leeds](/source/Leeds_Rhinos) at [Old Trafford](/source/Old_Trafford).[5][6]

In 2013, Gaskell moved to Salford as part of a loan deal.[7]

Near the end of the 2013 season, [Bradford](/source/Bradford_Bulls) announced that they had signed Gaskell on a two-year deal.[8] In November 2016, he signed a four-year deal with [Huddersfield](/source/Huddersfield_Giants).[9]

Gaskell featured in the pre-season friendlies against [Hull FC](/source/Hull_F.C.) and [Dewsbury](/source/Dewsbury_Rams).

Gaskell featured in Round 1 ([Castleford](/source/Castleford_Tigers)) to Round 2 ([Wakefield Trinity Wildcats](/source/Wakefield_Trinity)). After returning from injury he played in Round 8 ([Salford](/source/Salford_Red_Devils)) to Round 26 ([Widnes](/source/Widnes_Vikings)). Gaskell featured in Round 13 ([Swinton Lions](/source/Swinton_Lions)) to Round 14 ([Sheffield Eagles](/source/Sheffield_Eagles)). ### Huddersfield Giants

Gaskell was rewarded with his performances for Huddersfield by winning four awards at the Giants' 2019 end of season awards ceremony. [10] In round 5 of the [2021 Super League season](/source/2021_Super_League_season), he kicked a field goal in the final second of the match as Huddersfield defeated Leeds 14-13 to claim their first win of the season.[11] The following week, he scored two tries in a 26-20 victory over [Warrington](/source/Warrington_Wolves).[12]

### Wakefield Trinity

On 28 June 2021, it was reported that he had signed for [Wakefield Trinity](/source/Wakefield_Trinity) in the [Super League](/source/Super_League).[13]

### Bradford Bulls (rejoin)

On 19 June 2023, it was reported that he had rejoined [Bradford Bulls](/source/Bradford_Bulls) in the [RFL Championship](/source/RFL_Championship).[14]

### Hunslet RLFC

On 18 March 2025 it was reported that he had signed for [Hunslet RLFC](/source/Hunslet_RLFC) in the [RFL Championship](/source/RFL_Championship)[15]
