**Lectionary 20**, designated by [siglum](/source/Siglum) **ℓ** *20* (in the [Gregory-Aland](/source/Biblical_manuscript#Gregory-Aland) numbering), is a Greek [manuscript](/source/Manuscript) of the [New Testament](/source/New_Testament), on vellum leaves. It is dated by a [colophon](/source/Colophon_(publishing)) to the year 1047.[1]

## Description

The codex contains lessons from the Gospels of [John](/source/Gospel_of_John), [Matthew](/source/Gospel_of_Matthew), [Luke](/source/Gospel_of_Luke) [lectionary](/source/Lectionary) (*Evangelistarium*), with [lacunae](/source/Lacuna_(manuscripts)). The text is written in Greek [minuscule](/source/Lower_case) letters, on 177 parchment leaves (), 2 columns per page, 22 lines per page.[2] It is ornamented manuscript, it contains red musical notes – [neumes](/source/Neumes).[3]

In [Matthew 4:23](/source/Matthew_4:23) it contains textual variant ἐν ὅλη τῇ Γαλιλαίᾳ (*in whole Galilee*) along with [Codex Vaticanus](/source/Codex_Vaticanus), [Codex Bobiensis](/source/Codex_Bobiensis), [syrc](/source/Curetonian_Gospels) and [copsa](/source/Coptic_Versions_of_the_Bible).[4]

## History

The codex was written by [Onesimus](/source/Onesimus), in April 1047.[3] In 1633 it was purchased by [William Laud](/source/William_Laud), and became part of his collection.[2] It was known as Laudianus 4.

It was added to the list of the New Testament manuscripts by [Johann Jakob Wettstein](/source/Johann_Jakob_Wettstein).[5][6] It was slightly examined by [John Mill](/source/John_Mill_(theologian)) (as *Laud. 4*) and [Griesbach](/source/Johann_Jakob_Griesbach).[2]

[Kirsopp](/source/Kirsopp_Lake) and [Silva Lake](/source/Silva_Tipple_New_Lake) published its facsimile.[7]

The manuscript is sporadically cited in the critical editions of the [Greek New Testament](/source/Novum_Testamentum_Graece) (UBS3).[8]

Currently the codex is located in the [Bodleian Library](/source/Bodleian_Library) (Laud. Gr. 34) in [Oxford](/source/Oxford).[1]
