**Lawrence Edgar Low** (August 22, 1920 – July 1, 1996)[1] was an American [sailor](/source/Sailboat_racing) and Olympic champion. He competed at the [1956 Summer Olympics](/source/1956_Summer_Olympics) in [Melbourne](/source/Melbourne), where he received a gold medal in the [star class](/source/Star_(sailboat)) with the boat *Kathleen*, together with [Herbert Williams](/source/Herbert_Williams_(sailor)).[2][3]

Born in [Trenton, New Jersey](/source/Trenton%2C_New_Jersey), Low was raised in the [Green Pond](/source/Green_Pond%2C_New_Jersey) section of [Rockaway Township, New Jersey](/source/Rockaway_Township%2C_New_Jersey).[4]
