**Laura Howard** (born as **Laura Simmons**; 1977 in [Chiswick](/source/Chiswick), London)[1] is an English actress. She is best known for her role as Cully Barnaby in the long-running British crime-[mystery](/source/Mystery_fiction) [police procedural](/source/Police_procedural) *[Midsomer Murders](/source/Midsomer_Murders)*.

## Biography

Howard's first major role came in 1992, playing the teenage daughter Tammy Rokeby in the [BBC](/source/BBC) comedy series *[So Haunt Me](/source/So_Haunt_Me)*.[1] She went on to play Cully Barnaby, the daughter of [John Nettles](/source/John_Nettles)' character Tom, in *[Midsomer Murders](/source/Midsomer_Murders)* from 1997 to 2011. Howard has also had a starring role in the [Jack Rosenthal](/source/Jack_Rosenthal) drama *Interview Day*[2] and its sequel *Cold Enough For Snow*.[3] Her other UK [television](/source/TV) credits include *[Soldier Soldier](/source/Soldier_Soldier)*, *[The Bill](/source/The_Bill)*, *[Doctors](/source/Doctors_(2000_TV_series))* and *[Casualty](/source/Casualty_(TV_series))*.

Howard has appeared in numerous UK theatre productions, including the premiere of *[Life of Riley](/source/Life_of_Riley_(play))* by [Alan Ayckbourn](/source/Alan_Ayckbourn). In June 2012, she appeared in Ayckbourn's *[The Norman Conquests](/source/The_Norman_Conquests)* at the [Liverpool Playhouse](/source/Liverpool_Playhouse). In 2014, she starred in *Invincible* by [Torben Betts](/source/Torben_Betts) at the [Orange Tree Theatre](/source/Orange_Tree_Theatre) and then its transfer to the [St James's Theatre](/source/St_James's_Theatre), London. In 2016, she appeared in two plays as part of the [Royal Shakespeare Company's](/source/Royal_Shakespeare_Company) "Making Mischief" Season.
