Berman received her undergraduate degree from the [University of Vermont](/source/University_of_Vermont), where she was a member of [Alpha Chi Omega](/source/Alpha_Chi_Omega) sorority. Berman is married to Samuel Chapman. During the course of their marriage, Chapman and Berman became the parents of three sons.
