**Latifur Khan** joined the [University of Texas at Dallas](/source/University_of_Texas_at_Dallas) in 2000, where he has been conducting [research](/source/Research) and [teaching](/source/Teaching) as a [professor](/source/Professor) in the Department of [Computer Science](/source/Computer_Science).[1]

## Education

Khan has received his [B.Sc.](/source/Bachelor_of_Science) in computer science from [Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology](/source/Bangladesh_University_of_Engineering_and_Technology) in 1993. He has done his [M.Sc.](/source/Master_of_Science) degree in computer science at the [University of Southern California](/source/University_of_Southern_California) in 1996. He has also earned his [Ph.D.](/source/Doctor_of_Philosophy) in computer science from the [University of Southern California](/source/University_of_Southern_California) in 2000.[1]

## Career

Khan is working as a professor of computer science, in the [Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science](/source/Erik_Jonsson_School_of_Engineering_and_Computer_Science) at The University of Texas at Dallas since 2012. He initially joined the University of Texas at Dallas in 2000 and has held the title of professor, associate professor and assistant professor.[2] Khan has primarily done research in the fields of [big data](/source/Big_data) management, [data mining](/source/Data_mining), multimedia information management and [semantic web](/source/Semantic_Web)[3] and has [published](/source/Publishing) over 300 papers in 40 [journals](/source/Academic_journal), in peer-reviewed conference proceedings, and in three [books](/source/Book).[4]
