The '''Langer See''' is a [lake](/source/lake) situated in the south-eastern outskirts of [Berlin](/source/Berlin), the capital city of [Germany](/source/Germany). The lake is aligned south-east to north-west and forms part of the course of the [River Dahme](/source/Dahme_(river)). The Langer See is approximately {{convert|11|km}} long, with an average width of {{convert|221|m}} and an area of {{convert|2.43|km²}}.

The Dahme flows into the Langer See from the [Zeuthener See](/source/Zeuthener_See), at the south-east end of the lake by the Berlin suburb of [Schmöckwitz](/source/Schm%C3%B6ckwitz). It flows out to the north-west near [Köpenick](/source/K%C3%B6penick) and its confluence with the [River Spree](/source/Spree_(river)). At Schmöckwitz the Langer See also mingles with the [Seddinsee](/source/Seddinsee).

Like the River Dahme, the Langer See is navigable. Besides traffic to the upstream reaches of the Dahme, the lake also carries traffic to the [Oder-Spree Canal](/source/Oder-Spree_Canal), which links with the Seddinsee and provides a commercial waterway link between Berlin and [Poland](/source/Poland).<ref name=bsiwg>{{cite book | first = Barry | last = Sheffield | publisher = Imray Laurie Norie & Wilson | location = [St Ives](/source/St_Ives%2C_Cambridgeshire) | title = Inland Waterways of Germany | year = 1995 | isbn = 0-85288-283-1 | pages = 113–122}}</ref>

The Langer See is crossed by two of [Berlin's passenger ferries](/source/Ferry_transport_in_Berlin) that are operated by the [BVG](/source/Berliner_Verkehrsbetriebe), the municipal transport operator. The F12 crosses from Müggelbergallee (in Köpenick) to Wassersportallee (in [Grünau](/source/Gr%C3%BCnau_(Berlin))), and operates all year. The F21 crosses from Krampenburg via Große Krampe (both in [Müggelheim](/source/M%C3%BCggelheim)) to Zum Seeblick (in Schmöckwitz), and operates only in summer.<ref>{{cite web | title = Fährlinie F12 | url = http://www.bvg.de/index.php/de/3776/name/Faehrlinie+F12.html | publisher = BVG | accessdate = 2010-05-27}}</ref><ref>{{cite web | url = http://www.bvg.de/index.php/de/3777/name/Faehrlinie+F21.html | title = Fährlinie F21 | publisher = BVG | accessdate = 2010-05-27}}</ref>

The regatta course on the Langer See at [Grünau](/source/Gr%C3%BCnau%2C_Berlin) was used for the Olympic [canoeing](/source/Canoeing_at_the_1936_Summer_Olympics) and [rowing](/source/Rowing_at_the_1936_Summer_Olympics) events at the [1936 Summer Olympics](/source/1936_Summer_Olympics).<ref name=wusb>{{cite web | title = Wasserstraße Seddinsee und Gosener Kanal -Geschichte | publisher = Wasser- und Schifffahrtsamt Berlin | url = http://www.wsa-berlin.wsv.de/wasserstrassen/bundeswasserstrassen/seddinsee_gosener_kanal/geschichte/index.html | language = German | accessdate = 2011-01-12 | archive-date = 2015-04-12 | archive-url = https://web.archive.org/web/20150412033607/http://www.wsa-berlin.wsv.de/wasserstrassen/bundeswasserstrassen/seddinsee_gosener_kanal/geschichte/index.html | url-status = dead }}</ref>
