'''Bradley Lane MacDonald''' (born March 3, 1966) is an American former [ice hockey](/source/ice_hockey) player.

==Playing career==
Born in Tulsa to father, former NHL player [Lowell MacDonald](/source/Lowell_MacDonald), MacDonald was a prep star at the [University School of Milwaukee](/source/University_School_of_Milwaukee), and grew up in [Pittsburgh](/source/Pittsburgh), [Pennsylvania](/source/Pennsylvania). Drafted by the [Calgary Flames](/source/Calgary_Flames), MacDonald chose to attend [Harvard University](/source/Harvard_University), where he graduated with four school scoring records (including career goals), and ranking in the top five in 11 different statistical categories; he studied philosophy under the tutelage of [Alexander George](/source/Alexander_George_(philosopher)). He was twice named a first-team All-American.

MacDonald was a member of the bronze-medal winning American team at the [1986 World Junior Hockey Championship](/source/1986_World_Junior_Ice_Hockey_Championships).<ref name="WCResults">{{cite book |editor-last=Podnieks |editor-first=Andrew |title=IIHF Guide & Record Book 2012 |year=2011 |publisher=International Ice Hockey Federation |isbn=978-0-7710-9598-6 |page=494}}</ref> He took a year off from Harvard in 1987-88 to play member of the United States' [1988 Winter Olympics](/source/1988_Winter_Olympics) team in Calgary. MacDonald would return to Harvard as team captain to win the 1989 [Hobey Baker Award](/source/Hobey_Baker_Award), given to the top collegiate ice hockey player, while at [Harvard University](/source/Harvard_University), and leading the Crimson to the NCAA Championship. After college, he played for [HC Lugano](/source/HC_Lugano) is the Swiss League before recurring migraine headaches forced him to retire. He attempted a brief comeback with the 1992 US hockey team in preparation for the Albertville Olympics, but left competitive hockey for good prior to the Winter Games. He then went to [Stanford Business School](/source/Stanford_Business_School) and is now a general partner in a Boston-area private equity firm, where he lives with his wife and three children.

MacDonald was inducted into the [United States Hockey Hall of Fame](/source/United_States_Hockey_Hall_of_Fame) in 2005.<ref>{{cite web |url=http://www.ushockeyhall.com/enshrinees.cfm |title=Enshrinees |publisher=United States Hockey Hall of Fame |accessdate=2012-08-16 |url-status=dead |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20120904024411/http://www.ushockeyhall.com/enshrinees.cfm |archivedate=2012-09-04 }}</ref>
