# Lakerveld

**Lakerveld** is a hamlet in the [Dutch](/source/Netherlands) province of [Utrecht](/source/Utrecht_(province)). It is a part of the municipality of [Vijfheerenlanden](/source/Vijfheerenlanden), and lies about 9 km south of [IJsselstein](/source/IJsselstein).

The hamlet was first mentioned in the 16th century as Laeckervelt, and means "field near the Laak (river)".[2] Lakerveld has no place name signs. In 1840, it was home to 300 people.[3]
