The **Lake Pedder planarian** (*Romankenkius pedderensis*) is a species of [invertebrate](/source/Invertebrate) in the family [Dugesiidae](/source/Dugesiidae).[1] This species was gregarious within the aquatic community of the lake before it flooded, living alongside small fish and invertebrates such as the [Pedder galaxias](/source/Pedder_galaxias) and [Lake Pedder earthworm](/source/Lake_Pedder_earthworm).[2]

## Distribution and conservation status

The species is [endemic](/source/Endemism) to the [Lake Pedder](/source/Lake_Pedder) area in [Tasmania](/source/Tasmania), Australia. This species has been listed as extinct by the [IUCN Red List of Threatened Species](/source/IUCN_Red_List_of_Threatened_Species) in the past, but live specimens of this species were collected in 2006[3][failed verification] and the ongoing existence of the species was again confirmed in 2012.[4]
