**Lake Italy** is a lake in the [John Muir Wilderness](/source/John_Muir_Wilderness) of the [Sierra Nevada Mountains](/source/Sierra_Nevada_(U.S.)) of [California](/source/California). The lake is accessible via trail over [Italy Pass](/source/Italy_Pass) or as an offshoot of the [John Muir Trail](/source/John_Muir_Trail).[2] It was named by the [USGS](/source/United_States_Geological_Survey) because its shape is similar to that of [Italy](/source/Italy).[1]
